"MERYTON" & "CHIMO" an
ALASKAN MALAMUTE heritage

"MERYTON Kennels" - Tony & Merilyn Syme bred the 1st ever litter of Alaskan Malamutes in Australia. That litter was born in May 1981. No one in Australia has been more involved in the breeding of Alaskan Malamutes as long as the Syme family!

"CHIMO Kennels" - Tonya Syme took over the breeding side of the kennel from Tony and Merilyn so they could fulfill other roles in canine affairs. Their strong active involvement includes Internationally acclaimed Judging assignments (Tony) and administrative roles at the highest level of the sport (Merilyn).

In her own right Tonya has continued her parents legacy and bred, owned & handled NUMEROUS BEST IN SHOW & RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW winners at all levels of competition. Alaskan Malamutes bearing the Meryton and Chimo kennel names continue to grace the rings of Australia and internationally and are the foundations of many of today's pre-eminent kennels.
