"LOOK AT THE BABY AIREDALE!", A comment we often hear. Pet lovers may be excused for this mistake as the basic outline is similar, but there is, to the trained eye a difference with head and Ears
Lakelands were originally bred in the harsh countryside of the English Lake District, to help hunt foxes.
The Lakeland is a small Terrier with an impish and assertive disposition, he is an ideal companion and family dog either in town or country. Lakies have a special affection for children, being neither too large to handle or too small to join in boisterous games. They make an exceptional house pet, returning love and affection in kind. In the house your Lakie will settle down and behave with perfect manners. He is not prone to damage furniture if left alone as some breeds do. As a guard he excels with his loud bark and fearless temperament and is a great deterrent to an intruder.
Lakelands are sensitive animals and can be trained and controlled by the tone of your voice.
A Lakeland is not a lap dog but a supremely athletic and lovable rascal. A jolly companion on a long walk or as a calm and watchful house dog.
